I've been e-mailing an alumni who is working in one of the school's admission offices. He'll usually just answer my questions and help me with my application. Now that I have been accepted into the college, should I let him know? They do get a ton of mail from students, so I'm not sure if a thank you from me will just add to their workload.

I don’t think anyone dreads reading thank you letters

Yes, if someone helped you, you should send a thank you note.

Why would a thank you letter be a burden?

I sent short notes - I feel like I should say thank you and show them that there is a result after all their work
