Sending High School Transcripts

So I'm not sure about sending transcripts. I did some college applications on the common app and my counselor told me that he put my grades in the common app. So does the school report count as my transcript or do i need to send them by mail. Also if i do need to send them do i personally send them or does the school send them. I requested official transcripts from my school and they have the school address so can i just go ahead and send them if i have to or does the school need to do that.

Thanks any help would be fine

An official transcript is one sent: (a) by the high school either by mail or elctronically if the college allows electronic delivery of transcripts; or (b) mailed by the applicant but only if the school, before giving the transcript to the student, places it in an envelope that is then sealed by the high school with an offical seal (they actually have a seal that is stamped over the area where the envelop closes), the student then mails it to the college by taking that envelope and putting it in another larger envelope addressed to the college. The key to be an offical transcript is that it is one that never actually touches your hands and thus assures there has been no tampering by you.

Most colleges require an offical transcript. Not sure how the common app works but simply listing grades in the app would not be enough but if the counselor is actually electronically sending the transcript as part of the counselor’s report that may be anough.

Do all schools require most recent grades for RD?

“Do all schools require most recent grades for RD?”

Not clear on what you are asking. When you apply, you are usually required to submit an initial transcript that needs to be sent by application deadline or very shortly afterward. Thus, when applying RD to most colleges, you have grades through junior year and do not yet have first semester senior grades.

After you have applied and submitted that intial transcript, you may or may not have to submit a “mid-year” report, mainly your first semester grades after they come out, to the colleges. It depends on college whether you need that. Many colleges, including most public universities, base admission decisons on grades through junior year, and thus want no mid-year report, and then use senior grades only as a basis to withdraw admission when you send final transcript in June. On the other hand, many colleges, particularly most of those that do not issue any RD decisions until late March or early April, require that mid-year report and use those first semester senior year grades in determining admission.
