Sending in photo with essay?

Hi there! I'm a high school senior currently applying to Kenyon College. For my "Describe the world you come from" essay, I chose to write about the very strange small town where I live. There is one small detail in it, that, while 100% true, doesn't seem at all believable. It epitomizes my town and its residents. I don't think the essay would work without it, but I also don't think that admissions officers will believe that I am telling the truth. It could be verified by photographic evidence. Kenyon is one of my first choice schools, and I don't want to risk my chances by doing something stupid.
So I guess my question is - how (in)appropriate would it be if I attached a photo along with my essay? Have others done a similar thing? How did it go?

Thanks, guys!

My son also wants to send in a picture to be looked at while reading his main essay, for the same reason, what he saw and wrote his essay about almost seems unbelievable. His college counselor said to put it in as a web link which would go to the picture which is easiest for the reader to click on and see ( she said that is how the art portfolios work best) or to upload it where it says anything else to add with a qualifier to be read iwth the essay though that seemed like it was more hit or miss
