I didn't have my scores sent to colleges when I took the exams because I had no idea where I wanted to go. Now that I'm getting ready to apply, when do I send my scores in, before I send in the application, or after?

Can anyone help?

It shouldn't matter. If you want to make sure they attach your scores to your application though, it's probably a good idea to send them after you apply.

I agree that it doesn't matter, either way the college will start a file for you in which to compile all of your materials. However, one reason for sending them after you send in the application is so that you don't waste money sending a score to a college that you end up not applying to (because of lack of time, change of heart, etc.)

It doesn't matter where you send them. It won't hurt to send them in now, but as entomom said, you might change your mind in the coming months. And it costs $ to send scores to a large number of colleges.

I'm set on the schools I'm applying to, I've already started the applications. On one of the apps, they ask if I've already sent my scores to the school. Would it be easiest to just send the scores now, and mark yes on the application and send that in when its finished?

yeah that seems like a good idea if you know for sure your mind is made up.

I have a related question, when you sign up for SAT and tell them to send scores to certain school, will they send all your other scores from sat/sat2 exams in the past or just the one you signed up for? what bout ap scores? thankks

joexc07, do you plan to take the SAT I or II tests again? If you do, then just include the schools on your registration for a new test.

If you are satisfied with your scores, and you do NOT plan to take any of the tests again, then it does not matter when you have your scores sent in. Whether the test scores are received first, or your application is received first, each college will open up a file for you and track all of the items that are needed.

ok thanks. i don't plan on taking the tests again, so i went ahead and sent them. they take a while to get in (i didn't do rush reporting) so i might as well send them now instead of later.

b151, if you send an SAT or SATII score, colleges will see all other SAT and SATII scores. If you send an AP score, colleges will see all other AP scores.

do you have to send ap scores? i got 3's on mine, not good enough for credit, so is there any point in sending them?

joexc07, you do not have to have your AP scores sent to any college; however, depending on the college a "3" on some AP exams will give you college credit. You do not need to make any immediate decisions on this, though. You can wait and see what college you are accepted to and what AP credits they might allow -- for many selective schools, the minimum AP score to recceive college credit would be a "4" or "5", again depending on which test.

ok great, thanks.
