Sending SAT Subject Test score before applying.

I'm sending my December 2014 Biology SAT score (which I have yet to give) to four colleges (for the free of charge thing), but I won't actually be applying to colleges until August-September 2015. Is it going to cause any problems (will colleges erase it by next year?) if I send it now, or should I wait to send it until I start applying?

You are fine sending them now. However… something to think about is that if you wait, you can use score choice for many schools. There are only a few schools that require you to send ALL scores. If you are not happy with your scores, and decide to re-take (or take different subject tests altogether for better scores), you can wait and just send all the scores you want to send at the time of application. This would include you SAT I scores if you take it a couple of times and don’t want to send all those.

It costs money to send using score choice. But it gives you a level of control that is nice. Now… try to get ALL your testing done by at least a month or more before your apps are due (including retakes) so you pay ONCE for score choice to see all the scores that you have and want to pass along. My kids tried to do almost all their testing junior year. That included planning for 2 sittings of the SAT with a few months betwen for more prep, an attempt at the ACT, and one set of subject tests. They both ended up taking one additional subject test at the first sitting in the fall to bring up a score, but there was no scrambling for December testing, and the SATs were nailed down by end of junior year so they could realistically pick college to apply to.

Thanks!
I’m also aiming to finish all my testing in my junior year. I’m taking the SAT I in January and 3 more Subject Tests in May. I’m also aiming to sit only once for each test; so I don’t plan on retaking. I’m pretty much done with the Bio syllabus, and I’m very good at the subject, so I don’t think I would need to resit it anyway.
I’m hoping not to spend too much money on scores and applications (will be applying to 21 colleges, I’m an international, so I can’t take risks), that’s why I’m trying to avail the free sending thing.
