Sending self-studied AP scores

So I just got my AP scores back and I got fours on Lang and APES. I don’t have AP classes at my school, so I just took them so I would be able to test out of courses in college. Is getting a four on a self studied AP a good thing to send to top colleges? Honestly, I didn’t really study for them… I kind of just took them. So would a 4 on self-studied APES and Lang be worth sending to top colleges like Brown and Pomona?

There is a place on the common app to list your AP exams and scores. Don’t waste your money sending official score reports. You can contact admissions (or check the websites) but I’ve yet to see a college that wants an official AP score report from an applicant. Send them after you matriculate if you are looking for credit or placement.

@mathyone would it look impressive if I sent them with my app when I apply or should I only put them on after graduation?

On the common app form there is a space to list AP tests taken and the scores. I don’t think colleges are nearly as impressed by self-studying AP exams as the kids posting on this site seem to believe, and they’d generally prefer applicants to spend their time with meaningful ECs. However, since you’ve done it and gotten good scores you might as well tell them about it on the common app, especially since your school lacks AP classes. I don’t think getting an official score report will add anything to that, but you could contact them and ask.
