Is it okay to send the teacher rec letter to Cornell before I even submit my actual application? I have not finished my application yet, but one of my teacher who is writing a letter for me told me today that she mailed my letter yesterday! would this have any negative impact?

If you've paid your application fee and your file has been established...then it's ok if the recommendation arrives before your completed application.

what if i haven't paid my application fee?

Well...if you haven't paid your fee then they won't establish your file. In that case...it's possible for the letter to be lost because it doesn't have a "home" to go to.

oh boy. i guess that means i have to finish my common application by this weekend. seems like i cannot submit payment without submitting the application first.

You can submit your application without application fee, at least for Cornell. They downloaded my application and sent me an ID without my fee.

^^Well that's good to know then.

Back when I applied they wouldn't do anything until they had the app fee.

Yeah I sent my common app and supplement to Cornell today, but my guidance counselor got me a fee waiver and I sent it in by snail-mail (since it was a green piece of paper saying "Your application fee to Cornell University has been waived."
However, how do I indicate this on the "Payments" page of the Common App site?
And how long will it take to get the ID so I can check the status of my application?

Are you supposed to send proper letters of recommendation or just invite your teachers via email or both? I'm a bit confused.

My teacher told me that he mailed my letters too but i haven't sent ANYTHING to cornell yet. like none of my application or supplement or fee or anything like that. I'n hoping it's ok..I mean hopefully it wont get lost or discarded jsust because my file isn't there right? Can i send only my supplement in first? like some schools kind of want the supplement sent first so that they can have a file of you and have it easier to organize your stuff. i dont know about cornell
