Just a question: Do I need my letters of rec to be reported to Common App before submitting my application or is it okay to submit and have the letters of rec in tomorrow?

I already have my two letters confirmed and my teachers said they have completed the letters but one of my teachers has not submitted it yet. However, I would just like to get it out of the way now and submit my application.

On a side note, if for some reason my teacher has a problem, am I screwed if he doesn't submit his letter of rec tomorrow (november 1st)?

You can submit the Common App first and the teachers will still be able to upload their recs. My daughter did this so I know for sure it is fine. :)

Sweet, thanks for your help. Oh and just want to double check, it’s fine for ED too correct? Sorry to sound bothersome but might as well be sure haha.

Yup! Submitted my ED app weeks ago. Second teacher finally submitted the rec today. I contacted Cornell and they said that it is even fine for your teacher to submit a rec for ED next week.

I submitted all my app/supplement stuff before my teachers submitted theirs, and it’s now saying afterwards that my teachers submitted their stuff. So you’re good.

The preferred deadline for recommendations is November 1, however a followup email from Cornell said that teacher recommendations for teachers will be accepted through next week.

My English teacher still hasn’t started filling out the common app recommendation even though I sent it to her multiple times and warned her multiple times starting weeks ago. I’m going to give her hell if she doesn’t submit it for ED.

thanks. im on the same boat. on the commn app it says the app was downloaded by cornell but only one teacher has submitted the rec. my other teacher and my guidance counselor have not filled out the rest of it yet.

AM I SCREWED OR IS IT OK IF THEY ARE ABLE T GET IN BY THE END OF THE WEEK?

They are. I emailed Cornell about this a few days ago and they said that they understand such things (teacher submitting recommendations) are outside of our control, and that they can wait “a little bit” (quote from email) for such materials to be submitted.

Now on another side note, about when should we get our applicant IDs? It’s been about 30 hours since I submitted and I have not received an email.

Took me a week or so until I got my ID. I applied a lot earlier too… considering the fact that a hundreds of kids applied ED, I’d say it will take a little less than 2 weeks.
