Sending Thank You's

What is the etiquette for sending thank you’s/see you in the fall emails to teachers who adjudicated you after an acceptance to a BFA program? Is this something that should or should not be done? Thanks!

I don’t know if this helps but I got rejected from every place where I sent one. So I’m not a person to ask.

In general, my feeling is that if you are going to write a Thank You, it should come after the audition, but before the acceptance. It shouldn’t be a “thank your rating me highly enough that I was accepted,” but rather “thank you for taking the time for me to audition, I appreciate the experience” or something like that.

That said, it is often the case that you don’t have time to get adjudicators’ contact information. I don’t think that thank you notes for auditions are a common practice.

And THAT said, for my first child we always made sure that she let colleges know once she had made her choice. You never want to burn bridges by just letting an acceptance lapse past the May 1 deadline, because it’s not that uncommon to decide to transfer. Keeping the good will (and just being a civilized adult) by telling colleges that you are going somewhere else is wise.

Just one parent’s opinion…
