i'm a junior right now, and i wasn't planning on taking ap tests in my senior year since i figured colleges won't see them anyways. now my counselor told me that i should still take them for the 5 ap classes i'm planning to take because or else i won't get credit for them. so now i'm taking it, but since it's just for college credits and technically 3s are passing and accredited, does it matter if i get a few 3s, since i'm thinking that after i get accepted i won't be all that motiveated to study anways?

Do you know you're going to a college where you won't get credit or placement for taking them? Even though I didn't use my AP credits for advanced standing in college, I ended up saving a semester's tuition in grad school because they counted the extra grad level courses I'd taken in college for credit.

And some colleges will not give credit for 3s. Some will only accept 4s or 5s. Some will only accept 5s. It usually depends on departmental policy at the college.

look at the colleges your applying to. go to their website, admissions, then the Credits they give you for a certain AP score.

I agree with the above. Look at your prospective colleges and see their policy on APs. It can save you money/time/effort down the road.
