I am looking at really selective colleges. I have a 4.0 GPA and plan to keep it that way. I am interested in majoring in biology since I want to be a researcher/marine biologist.

Senior year:
AP Calculus
AP Chemistry
AP Government
AP Literature
French 4
Competitive Speech and Debate
Ancient Philosophy/Forensics

Our school offers no Honors classes. I attend a private (sort of college prep) school that offers 12 AP classes. There is no AP for french. Is this rigorous enough?

Also, I don't know if I should take AP Environmental Science, AP Physics 1, or AP Chemistry. I have taken Conceptual Physics, Chemistry, and AP Biology. Based on what I plan to major in, which science class would be most beneficial?

Your schedule looks rigorous enough. Colleges will look at your school and see that it offers so the French thing is fine.

I’m assuming you’ve already taken AP Bio. I think either AP chem or AP environmental would be the best for you at this point because they’re related to biology. Since you already have chem in your schedule (and I don’t know how much of a pain it is to change schedules at your school), I’d say you should just keep chem.

Okay thanks! I just figured conceptual physics may not have been enough.

AP chem will likely be the most helpful, and since it is already in your schedule, you should keep it.

As far as having a rigorous schedule, you seem to be doing great! Just make sure you continue with ECs and you’re in good shape.

I would suggest AP Environmental Science if you’re able to switch, it’ll probably better for a background in marine biology and help you decide if that’s really what you want.

Okay, thanks! I just feel like the vibe is that APES is easier than AP Chem and I want to be a strong candidate when applying. Anyone think colleges will prefer one over the other?

Nah don’t worry about that. You’re already taking 3 other hard AP classes so you’ll be at no disadvantage when applying to colleges. Also, APES is not only easier, but much more practice and interesting. APES being close to marine bio is an added bonus for you

Your schedule is great as it is. Good luck!

I’d leave your schedule as is. APES does not have the same rigor as AP Chem.

AP chem is useful…I’d lean towards that. But your schedule looks awesome!
