Would 3 AP classes (physics B, frence language, calc BC) be enough for a serious senior course load? I am wondering if I should do AP English Lit. (for a 4th weighted class I would have to petition to the school). I am also planning to self study for AP Psych and am goign to do JHU distance for AP Chem.

i have 4 classes in total
reg. econ
reg. english
reg. physics
ap calculus bc
i had a 3.0 midyear (which they asked for during my questionarre)
and i got in
so three sounds fine
dont work urself too hard

i only have 4 aps

ap lit
ap french
ap macro
ap gov

@_@

i gotta pass macro/micro with 3's and gov/comp with 3s and lit with 4 :O

wels0n, did your classmates take more APs than u did? Because at my school, overachievers are goign to take 4 APs and I heard for Cal and UCLA they match you up against your classmates to determine admissions?

They look at how many AP/honors courses your school offers and see whether you are taking the most rigorous course load possible.

yes, it depends on the context of your school. pay attention to those that were accepted this year, and the schedules they carry. at more competitive schools, for example, a heavier courseload is necessary. i have 3 ap classes and 5 college classes this year

Uh, that's slightly ridiculous. 5 college classes is more than average by itself, but combined with 3 APs? That's the equivalent of what, over 20 units?

some of my classmates take 2 -3 AP's but im the top 40 percentile of my class
so im basically ranked about 105/300 and i think less than 30 kids got in to cal this year..
essays are real important, along with ec's
my sat score is sub 2100 as well, so i guess im very lucky

quirkily: i meant 5 college classes over the course of the year; i had 6 units (2 3 unit classes) last semester and have 11 (2 3 unit and 1 5 unit classes) this semester. meanwhile, i have 3 ap classes at my high school, 1 of which was in the fall semester only (ap gov).
