Senior Course Load

Hi, guys.

My current senior schedule looks like this:

Government/Economics
PE
Anatomy
AP Spanish
Office Aide

I know that is a ridiculously easy schedule, especially by CC standards, but will it be a deal breaker at most selective colleges? I have taken all offered AP classes at my school besides Spanish, and due to the previous counselor accidentally not putting me on the dual credit listing, I won’t be able to take any dual credit classes this year. My new counselor didn’t become available to speak to until last week, and both the local CC and LAC have closed applications that required a counselor recommendation.

Also, my school is on an eight period schedule, so I will be allowed to leave early everyday (around noon) since I have completed almost all of my credits besides PE and Government. So this is what my overall schedule looks like

Monday: School (7:55-12:10) Volunteer (1:00-5:00) Homework/SAT Study (5:00-11:00)
Tuesday: School (7:55-12:10) Work (2:00-10:00)
Wednesday: School (7:55-12:10) Volunteer (1:00-5:00) Catholic Confirmation (6:00-8:00)
Thursday: School (7:55-12:10) Work (2:00-10:00)
Friday: School (7:55-12:10) Volunteer (1:00-5:00) Homework/SAT Study (5:00-11:00)
Saturday: Volunteer (8:30-1:00) Work (2:00-10:00)
Sunday: NFL

I volunteer often at the Veterans Hospital and Psych Ward, and as a Pre-Med, they are very important to me. I have to work to save for college (parents aren’t giving me anything) and pay for books and other school related stuff.

What should I do? I do have spare time on Monday, Friday, and Sunday. Any alternatives or do I just accept my situation and hope for the best?

I think you are fine- if you really want, you could self-study for an AP exam, but I don’t know if colleges would even see that. As long as you’re making good use of your extra curricular time (which is seems like you are), you should be okay.

Alrighty, hopefully colleges can see that I did take all rigorous classes at my school. I’ll make sure to ask my counselor to put that in the rec.
