Does Delaware consider your senior grades a lot when reviewing your application? Because I got really sick in November and missed a ton of school. My grades dropped alot, I usually have a 90-91 average but for my first semester of senior year I have about an 86. If I email them explaining what happened when I send my senior grades will they consider it or think that its just some bad excuse? Did I ruin my chances of getting in? I also got an 1860 on my SAT's, lots of EC's, internship, over 300 hours of community service, 10 AP's/Honors, great essay and letters of recommendation

I feel it would be to your advantage to contact them to explain that your grades suffered due to an illness. I would provide them with as much information about the nature of the illness as you would feel comfortable in providing. Certainly a “bad cold” would probably not cut it as a reasonable excuse (unless you ended up with pneumonia from it). You might even want to consider offering to provide a physician’s note to verify the illness if they would want/require such a note (I doubt they would ask for this but it would not hurt to offer it). The stats you provided look very good and as long as your GPA overall and class rank are good I suspect the lowered grades due to illness would not have an impact on their decision. Just my thoughts. Best wishes to you.

Thanks Mwallenmd! that helped alot because I was really worried about all this. I will definitely email them explaining what happened when I send my grades
