Senior Grades

It has become common knowledge that you need to maintain "average" grades the second semester of your senior year, trying not to drop below B's if you're applying to elite colleges.

I want to know how much my first semester senior grades will affect my application to elite colleges. I've been getting drastically different responses from everyone that I talk to.

The thing is, I have two B's right now, one in AP Art History and the other in AP English Language. I'm going to study like mad for my AP Art History final, but if I do end up getting a B, how much would it hurt my chances?

The thing is, I'm on a rigorous academic team on top of my other volunteer/extra-curricular activities, and I'd been working two jobs (quit one). Pile that on top of four AP's (AP English Language, AP Art History, AP Government, AP Statistics) and 14 college applications and there's just not that much time or energy.

Stats:
GPA (UW) - 3.92 (9th - 11th)
GPA (W) - 4.3 (9th - 11th)
SAT: 2240 (800 M, 770 CR, 670 W)
School: Very competitive, Southern California

No, I don't think getting a "B" will hurt your chances..unless your applying to an ivy league. What universities are you applying to anyways??

Dartmouth
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
UPenn
Columbia
UCLA
UC Berkeley
UCSD
UCSB
USC

and Duke and Northwestern. How did I forget that...

Hmm...Well for all the ivy leagues that you applied for will be a big reach..Your GPA is not incredibly high and your SAT is decent, but not EXCELLENT. Wow, for Harvard, I think you have a very slight chance of getting accepted. I think you have a really good chance of getting accepted to all the UC's that you applied to.

Haha, thanks for the chance.
