Worried about Senior year grades

A lot of these posts are coming up with the end of 1st semester senior year. I recently received a D in my AP Calc BC class and I already asked my teacher multiple times if there is anythign i can do to raise it up to a C-. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful and it looks like the D will stand in my midyear report. I am worried I will get rejected by my private schools when I send in my midyear report and get rescinded from all the UC's if get accepted.
Private Schools: Northwestern, Duke, Boston College, Wash U at St.Louis, USC, Carnegie Mellon, Pitzer, Vanderbilt, UVA(out of state public), Villanova
UC's: LA, Berkeley, SD, I , SB

This is my first D ever in my school career and I know I screwed up. Does anyone know for a fact if I'll get flat out rejected/rescinded.
Senior Year ill end with a 4.25; 2 A's and 1 B. Ap econ, latin4, ap english
My gpa is 3.89 UW/4.1W
SAT: 2280 M:800 CR: 710 W: 770
SAT2: M2: 780 Korean: 800 US his:740
EC: pretty good, ASB 4 years (treasurer..etc) varsity soccer 3 years..VP of FBLA...so on
My course rigor has been the hardest, taking all the honors and AP classes that were available each school year.

Do you guys think they will give me a second chance?

That D is going to be blaring on your transcript. If I was an admissions officer, it looks as though you are simply not putting in enough effort and slacking off (not a good thing). If you have a solid reason for getting a D then I would let them know that, but if its just laziness…then I think you’re in trouble.

If you had some extracurriculars or really strong essays, they might make up for the D. However, none of your extracurriculars stand out, and I don’t know about your essay. I’m gonna have to agree with spanglish. you might get lucky in your state schools though.

^ how ironic. it’s the private schools that will probably overlook that D. UCs seem to only care about gpa unless you’re at berkeley or la. in which case, gpa will still trump overall.

At this point, the OP’s already sent in her midyear report. There’s really nothing we can do.

wheatbread, why’d you bump this?
