AP Calculus or AP Probability and Statistics.. which should I take senior year?! I've heard that the latter is easier which kind of made me want to take it to be honest. I have a pretty intense course load for next year and wanted to do anything to make it lighter on myself and ensure the best grades I could get. However, I don't want to appear as if I'm at a loss for taking stats instead of calculus. There's also the whole thing about some colleges not taking credit from AP classes to replace college courses.. so I really don't know which class I should take. Advice please? Thanks!(:

Have you taken AP Calc AB or would this be your first ever exposure to calculus. I personally would take AP Calc over AP Stat since many colleges require atleast a year of calc, meaning that having the knowledge will allow to place out of it or atleast make the class easier. However on CC will go back and forth.

i was in the same dilemma and ended up choosing calc ab for next year. i feel like the ap calc credit means more, and it’s actual “higher level” math.

at my school, a lot of juniors coming from precalculus choose to take stats, thinking it is the easier option, but end up doing very poorly in it because it’s a whole different kind of math that they don’t immediately understand (and obviously some kids do really well). but in reality, they’ve been trained with calculus background knowledge and are more prepared than they think for ap calc.

You should only be weighing two things in your decision: course-load versus potential to learn. Forget about satisfying all the admissions officers in the country. You should be asking yourself if taking the more challenging AP Calculus is worth taking a heavier course-load…i.e. will it negatively affect your ability to learn in your other classes?

That’s it.
