Senior Schedule Question

I'm having a hard time composing my senior year schedule. I'm going to be editor of the newspaper, so I feel that I should have journalism as a period so I don't have to come in during lunch and also so I can dedicate more time to my duty. The only problem is that my schedule does not allow pre-cal or AP Cal (the highest maths offered which I would take) to be taken. My counselor told me that I won't get into an Ivy if I don't max out on math courses.

My senior classes are AP Literature, Latin 3 and 4, Journalism (or Pre-Cal, AP Cal), and AP Physics.

I'm just confused on what to do. I could take Physics Honors in space of Latin 3, take Latin 3 independently 1st semester, take journalism independently 4th period, and have room for math, but is that worth it? help!

I hate block schedule.

I think you should take the math class because yale stresses that you make the most of your courseload. Personally my pre-ap pre-cal class (what a mouthful!) really helped when i took the math ( goes all the way to basic trig) section of the ACT, without that math class i probably would have blanked out on the math test...but then again i had a really good teacher.

Thanks. I think I finally figured it out.

I'm going to take Latin 3 independently the quarter before AP Lit. starts and not take Latin 4. that leaves room for Pre-cal and AP Cal for 3rd block. And then I'll take Journalism independently 2nd block so I can edit papers and format. then 4th block I'll take AP Physics (bleh...)

now at least I have some kind of break during the entire year with Journalism.

This is now a completely useless thread.
