So I am currently a political science major at UC Santa Cruz and I applied to both UC Irvine and UC Berkeley as a senior transfer. I have recently learned I was accepted to UC Irvine and I am pretty much assuming I won't get into Berkeley since the odds are substantially against me so I have a huge dilemma as to whether I should transfer to UC Irvine for my senior year or not. Academically, I know UC Irvine is above UC Santa Cruz even in a major such as political science but what has me debating this the most is the idea of me not settling well into Irvine and not enjoying my final year of college or being like a loner. For those that have transferred to Irvine, how is the transfer community? I've heard a lot of people commute so would it be hard to make many friends? What I am most afraid of is not really fitting into the community there or having a hard time making friends. I am a hispanic male from an urban city in Northern California so even here at UC Santa Cruz I struggled a bit integrate myself and feel part of the community and I'm just assuming it would be worse in a place such as Irvine. If anyone could give me any feedback on what their experience at Irvine it would be great both transfer or frosh admits. What are your thoughts on the Irvine community and do you think I would have a hard time getting acclimated to the school/city or not. Any feedback would be extremely helpful! Thank you
