Hey Everyone!

I'm currently a junior film major at USC, and am wondering if any of you know whether or not UCLA allows senior transfers into their film program. Thanks!

UCLA has a very small undergraduate film program. They take about 30 students (from thousands of applicants) each year, half from inside UCLA and half from outside. I believe they limit it to people who have a certain number of credit hours - if you were a UCLA student I don’t think you’d be permitted to apply for that major unless you had between 90 and 130 hours, so I’m doubtful about how they’d see your situation. From outside, possibly, you could apply but I think your chances would be fairly slim just because there are so many applicants.

Unlike USC, you don’t send any films in, just essays and maybe a script, so you need to be an excellent writer. You are in a great program, why not just finish at USC and if you want UCLA, do their master’s program, which accepts I think about 200 people.

They are in the process of changing over to a 4-year film program, though, so some of this information may be out of date. Here’s a link:

UCLA only take junior transfer students, not senior. Sorry.
