Senior trip ideas?

So I am a early grad and won't be going with my schools senior trip. Big whoop it was only to the next town over anyway. Plus it's not the class that I was with since middle school because I jumped up a grade last year. Anyway I am more of a solo person. None of my friends have a lot of money to go on a big trip and honestly I would rather take it alone or with a family member. Problem is I have no idea what to do.

I though about a cruise. But I would much rather be on land exploring rather than cooped up on a ship for a week.

I want to do some adventurous things. Zip lining. Etc.

Getting passport this week.

I live in NC. I am 16 (will be 17 in April)

Want to go in may or June.

Budget is around 1500$ maybe a little more but nothing over 2grand. I am cheap sorry!

Please don't say Florida.

Any ideas? And can I even go on a cruise alone being that I am a minor?

Thanks!

I don’t think a cruise would b much fun on your own. If you want to go alone, I would either look some sort of youth adventure thing, so you’ll meet other peope your age, or find a reasonably safe city to explore. Doing something more rural might be harder as a minor, and unless you can dirve transport will be an issue.
That seems like quite a lot of money to me! You could try to get cheap last minute fights somewhere interesting, if you haven’t come up with anything else by then.

Yeah I really don’t think a cruise would be fun on your own (I’ve been on two). They’re mostly centered around leisure and relaxation. You spend a lot of time at shows, extremely fancy dinners, gambling, drinking, shopping (depending on how big the ship you go on is). I don’t think you’d have too much fun doing that stuff by yourself.

Last summer I went to Germany for a month on ~$3,000. I know you don’t want to spend quite as much, but you could probably go to anywhere in Europe for a week on $2,000 (it’s really the flights that kill you). And there’s a ton of adventure and exploring to be had there.

Or, if you’re looking for a more fun, chill, senior trip, Cancun or Cozumel would definitely be doable on that money, and even though Mexico isn’t the safest right now, the tourist places are relatively safe because they depend on them for money and wouldn’t risk having tourists getting hurt.

If you want to stay in the country, New York City could be really fun if you’ve never been there before! You can control how much you want to spend and there’s a ton of stuff to do!

I’m spending my summer all round Europe, hopefully on only around £300. Generally flights are cheapest well in advance or last minute, you it would be worth having a look now.
If you do want to come to Europe, have you consider Eurailing? [Travel Europe with an InterRail Pass | InterRail.eu](http://www.interrail.eu/) Basically you buy a pass that will allow you to travel on trains all through Europe for a week or two. Then you can either sleep on overnight trains, or have a look at youth hostels [Youth Hostels & Hostels Worldwide Book with Hostelling International](http://www.hihostels.com/) which have a lot of places throughout Europe.
