I am a Junior in high school and I am taking all AP classes next year, while this year I only have 1 AP course and 2 honors. Will colleges see those courses and take them into consideration? My GPA is still high right now but I still wanted to know if colleges will see that I’m taking on a tough course load next year to make sure its worth it. So will they see them and actually take a good look at them? Will those AP courses increase my chances of getting in? Will they see the courses if I’m applying early decision?
Yes. On the common app (and any subsequent app), you will list current year courses.
Yes, colleges will see your senior year course load when they look at your application and they certainly do want to see that you are taking a rigorous schedule. For ED, they will likely request your grades from first quarter (if your school does quarters) and anything for RD will see your first semester grades. It may not help you get into a college, but it definitely won’t hurt, and colleges won’t want to see that you are slacking off senior year. Take as many AP’s as you can handle next year, but know that you don’t need to overwhelm yourself to have a rigorous schedule
This will definitely play a factor. If you don’t challenge yourself, that is not going to look good on your application.
