Senior Year AP Scores

Do AP scores during senior year have any effect in rescinding admission? I'm just worried b/c one of my AP classes is the first that my teacher has ever done, and it appears that we will not be able to finish the curriculum in time for the test. (It's comp sci, and my teacher is learning Java as we do) I'm going to try my best to get prepared on my own, just curious as to whether or not the score can change my admission decision.

I would highly doubt it. I think the only thing that can rescind admission is a fall in GPA or disciplinary action. Mollie, do you know?

I'm not going to encourage everybody to get 1s on all of their tests, but I don't think the admissions office even sees final AP results -- they come out toward the end of July, when the freshman class will already be safely turned over to the Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Planning. :)

If you're sure you're coming to MIT next year, you might just skip out on taking the AP Comp Sci exam. It doesn't get you any credit at MIT(MIT Incoming Freshman Class: First-Year Subjects (GIRs)).

If that doesn't appeal to you, I would be very confident that it wouldn't be a problem.

Do the AP calc and AP bio tests (with appropriately high scores of course) get one any credit?

You can check the website (RTFM anyone? :D)

but

a 4 or 5 on Calc AB will allow you to take 18.01A (first 6 weeks is a rehash of single variable, then the remainder of the semester and IAP is multi-variable) and a 4 or a 5 on Calc BC will allow you to take 18.02 directly. AP Bio gets no credit.

is there ANY reason to take AP physics B this spring?

^^ nah, I don't think so. I took AP Physics B and even i got a 5 on it. MIT won't take credit for it. =/

I wish my current HS has AP Physics C E+M and Mech.

There are plenty of reasons to take it. None of those reasons really involve MIT in any way is all.

Huh? lol

I'm in Physics B this year but self-teaching. If you took calc/are taking calc, its really not bad as far as I can tell. I took calc BC last year so I am pretty confident I can do it.

Cheers

10Q. "Thank you." Get it? :p
