Hi!
So I am currently a senior at a competitive high school in New Jersey and am struggling a bit. I had a pretty rigorous schedule last year (AP Bio, APUSH, AP English, AP Calc AB, and Honors Spanish) and this year I have a slightly less rigorous one (AP Stat, AP Spanish, AP Macro, AP English II, and Academic Physics) but still with several challenging classes. However, due to a busy schedule plus college apps, my grades are slipping a bit. I don’t have any Cs but I feel like I’m most likely going to end this quarter with a B in Academic Physics, AP Stat, and AP Macro. While Macro is difficult, Stat and academic physics are known to be easier classes but I’m honestly just not good at them. My gpa last year was around a 4.2 and will probably be a 4.1 this year - I was just wondering if this change will be bad for college admissions? Or should I not worry too much?
4.2 to a 4.1 — is not a disaster. Really, you’re fine.
Colleges most likely won’t look at senior year anyway. But honestly even if they do don’t worry. That’s a tough schedule!
@rollout: that’s a fallacy. YOu bet your behind they look at 7th semester grades. This is the biggest predictor of an applicant’s ability to handle college-level work.
I have been told that and am definitely working hard senior year. Just based on circumstances, I do think my gpa will go down a bit. I was just curious to whether or not this will impact decisions
@Rollout Just as T26E4 said, many colleges treat 1st semester grade of the senior year the same as the full year grade of junior year because they believe that the latest grade is the most accurate predictor of how well the applicants will perform at their schools.
