Senior Year Grades

I know they're important, but just how important? This year I'm taking:

AP Computer Science
AP Calculus II
AP Literature and Comp.
AP Physics C
AP World History
Concert Chorus

The first quarter, I got straight A's. I'm starting to slip second quarter :/ I think right now half of my grades are B's and the other half are A's. Will this significantly affect my admissions decision? I have a really heavy course and work load on top of other responsibilities (including my promotion to president/captain of our county's FRC Robotics club this year) so I have been incredibly busy! I am definitely not a slacker. During my high school career, I've only ever had one "B".

I'm applying to become an engineer. So will my decline during second quarter hurt me substantially in the admissions process? Or should I not worry?

PS - Second quarter has not yet ended (we have about two weeks left), so I still have some time to try and pull those B's up. I don't think I'll be able to, though.

I have a similar issue :frowning: I had an 88 in AP English first semester and As in the rest, now I have an A in AP English but a B in physics honors (our school doesn’t offer AP physics). I’m really worried it’ll affect my decisions since I’m applying to a lot of top-tier schools, but maybe they’ll be understanding, since we’re taking a rigorous course load (I’m taking the hardest classes my school offers and doing sports)?

If anyone has any advice thanks a ton!!

Lol! You’re schedule is almost exactly like mine and I’m in a Robotics team.
Anyway, what you need to do is figure out how badly these B’s will affect your G.P.A. and class rank. That would be real helpful because if you were number 5 and got dropped to number 10, it wouldn’t be life changing.
I think we all worry way too much about G.P.A. Sure your class rank should be good, but your standardized tests is what separates you and another candidate most notably.

bump bump bump

You both have nothing to worry about. Nothing bad about a few B’s here and there.
