Senior year math or Chinese?

I'm going to be a senior next year, and I need to decide whether I should take Pre-Calc or Honors Chinese I. I'm not very good with math, but I am good and do enjoy learning languages. I'm already taking AP French next year, and I'm thinking about self-studying AP Statistics. I'm not too sure, but
I might be able to take pre-calc at a local community college or university.

What do you guys think?

BTW, my dream school is UChicago =D

I don't know why you'd begin a language Senior year.

That's exactly what I thought. But, Chinese would be an honors class, therefore raising my GPA.

Although I think Chinese I wouldn't be that hard and it'd be interesting (haha, asian and Chinese though), you probably would benefit more out of taking pre-cal in the long run. And then I looked back at your post and I saw you were thinking about self-studying AP Stat and thinking about taking pre-cal in a community college/local uni. xD If you can take pre-cal at a local uni/cc I think it would look good to colleges (challenging self) although it seems like it's going to be tough sr year with a new language, AP French, math, and self-studying Stats not even taking into consideration your other classes and college apps so I might reconsider if you're applying to a large number of schools.
And yay for people who aren't very good with math and take French :D!

Four years of Math is worth more to admissions than one year of a language, even if it is honors. Unless you're certain you'll get a C or lower in the math class, take the math class. It will also help you if you do self-study for AP Stats.

Chinese is way freaking hard. do math.

Definitely math.
Actually, the director of admissions of a school my daughter looked at last week said they like to see math and science senior year.

In terms of competing with the other college applicants many of them will have gone through calculus in high school. If I am understanding correctly you are trying to stop after Algebra II. I think that will put you at a disadvantage plus you will be behind the other students in your college math classes.

As far as self-studying statistics, I'm not sure how that will help you with college applications since it won't show up on your transcript and you won't get the AP score until long after college applications are finalized. Can you take statistics at your school instead of pre-calc? At least then you would have a math class.

You can always take Chinese in college if you are really interested in it.

Not taking up till at least precalc would put you at a pretty big disadvantage, because as someone above said, many applicants have already taken calculus. If you are already taking AP french next year, the math will be better, even if the extra language would have been honors.
