Hi, I am a junior and I need some advice about classes for senior year. Here are the classes that I am taking this year:
AP US History
AP English Language
Spanish 3.5( acclerated 3d course)
Advanced Orchestra
AP Psychology
AP Physics B+self studying Mechanics C
AP Stats
Multivariable Calc(at a community college)

Now, I have severaloptions for next year. Since I have no computer credits, I need a computer class. I can either take a simple one or drive to a different high school to take AP java(mine doesnt offer it).In spanish I have the option to skip the 4th course and take APspanish(the 5th course), is that doable or too hard? take into account that I speak russian and hebrew fluently which might help or maybe not, idk.
And here is the big question: should I take 6-7 AP classes+differential equations at a cc, or should I take only 4-5 AP's and take 2-3 in-dpeth classes like differential equations/topology/number theory/general genetics? I am interested in the in-depth classes but for some reason my couselor wants me to take ap's instead.

Please share your opinions about the above options because I need to pick classes in 2 weeks.

Well for computers, it depends if you want credits for it after high school. If you don’t need or want them, then just take the simple one. For spanish, it’s kinda similar to my problem. I was in French 4 last year and had the option of taking 5 or AP. But I chose 5 instead because I was actually a year behind in French. Most kids take french 5 and then AP. So if I skipped 5, I’d probably be unprepared and fail.

And for your last question…I think it depends on how many AP exams you want to take. If your goal is to take as many exams as you can, then the first choice. But if you don’t really care about that, then the 2nd choice. The in depth classes will focus more on a topic. But AP’s are a little more broader in order to cover the basics. So taking the in depth classes wouldn’t help that much on any exams imo.

Personally, I would take the 2nd choice because 6-7 APs is a lot of work.

Do you think that colleges will value the in-depth classes or will those be considered like any AP’s? Because from my experience, getting an A in an in-dpeth class is harder than an A in an AP class. Also, the in-dpeth classes will lower my GPA and class rank because they are not weighted, so will colleges take that into account?

those in-depth courses you mentioned are significant, i think colleges will realize the intensity of that and take it into account. as for your gpa/rank i dont think its a biggie as much because its your senior year, your 1st quarter grades matter the most however

go with your interests, i think those coures will help you A LOT in college if you are interested in going into any of those fields

otherwise the AP’s would be better because you can skip a lot of generals credits which will save you time/money
