Senior year transfer (unusual situation)

I'm currently a junior in the second year of the IB diploma program. Basically, I'll have my IB diploma after this year, leaving my senior year basically free. I'm applying to McDonogh in Maryland as a boarder.

I know senior year transfers are usually impossible, but I think there are a couple of things that make my situation different. First, McDonogh isn't a HADES/ultracompetitive school (although getting in will still be very challenging). Second, the McDonogh debate coach wants me to come debate for the school, and has spoken to the headmaster about me.

Miscellaneous information:
-Teacher recommendations will be very good
-ISEE scores: 93 in quantitative reasoning, otherwise all 99
-Academically on par with McDonogh juniors. SAT = 2240 last practice test, 5's on AP World/US/Lang, 6 on IB Physics SL, currently taking AP/IB Calc/Gov/Lit/French/Bio
-Friends with a lot of kids at McDonogh from debate.
-Applying for FA, which will work strongly against me

Thoughts on the viability of all of this?

I have to say that I haven’t really heard of students going into BS for senior year. Have you considered repeating junior year at the school? It’s common practice for BS students to come in as repeats, though your IB program might make that an unattractive option. I haven’t heard of the school, but if you have an in with debating, then I think you could have a good chance at getting into the school. Make sure to ask your AO’s a lot of questions to better understand the process of entering as a senior. Since most schools start their college counseling process junior year, that might be something that might be an issue, etc. Good luck!
