Senior Year Turnaround

Im pretty interested in attending a 7 year medical program in the Fall of 2009, though, I feel my GPA is not high enough to enter such a program. Let me be specific,

Unweighted: 3.7/4.33 (theoretically)
Weighted: 5.0/ 6.0( low because of level 2 electives/ level 1 Latin)

but I feel my SATs and Extracurriculars are stronger

my math plus verbal score= 1540

Do you think a serious turnaround in my senior year GPA would really even matter at this point?
Thank you

no i dont even think they look at senior year grades. even if you send your transcript after 1st semester to the school that the program is affiliated with, i doubt they would redirect it to the program peoplezzz.

first of all they do look at senior year grades....

second what are you talking about 3.7 is not good? its great....with your SATs and especially if you have good ECs and some prizes you can go ivy with those grades....relax

GPA averages vary greatly among the different programs. Also, we need your class rank to get a better idea about your GPA. That being said, I don't think you should worry...this is coming from someone who is in a program and knows what her stats were.

Tzar09, your blanket statement is incorrect. I applied to programs who openly told me they DO NOT consider senior year grades. Some will, some will not.

^True that. There are a lot of programs who say they will only look at senior grades if you're really "on the fence," and that's just to get an interview.

some look at middle school grades, and i know UCSD med scholars even takes a peep at 4th-6th.

BodaciousG, our school does not rank...though I have a feeling I am somewhere on the outskirts of the top 10% of my class...probably top 15%
I have a feeling though that a lot of students in my high school will be applying to 6 or 7 year medical programs. Is it a myth that increased competition within one's high school affects their chances of getting into a specific program? Or better worded, do colleges care about how many kids they take from one high school?

Which program are you in BodaciousG?
