Seniors: How far are you on applications?

We have a senior class meeting tomorrow about deadlines, and other college stuff. I have all the easy stuff filled out on my application. 3 of my schools use the common application, and we're writing one of our essays in ap english (I'm using one of the ones for the common application). My big worry is teacher recs. I only have one teacher who really knows me well who I had for 11th-12th grade, so I'm worried about who else to pick. So how are things going for you?

I've made some headway on Stanford's app, UMD's app, Pitt's app, and the common app - meaning, I filled out all the easy stuff.

We're doing a college essay in AP Lit, which is great, because I had a couple essays written out already, so now I get it graded and such.

Teacher recs...I have to ask a couple teachers soon. If I turn in Pitt's app by October 8th, they're waiving the application fee, and my dad says that any app fee that I get waived by turning stuff in early and such, he'll give to me in cash.

I've started apps (as in, filled out the easy stuff) for Chicago, Rochester, and Syracuse...
so, really, not much progress at all...

I've done the easy stuff for most of my schools, too. Name, SSN, classes, address... now there's just the small matter of getting those recommendations and essays done.

I've been researching, researching, finding out about another school, researching it...and putting together my chart. I've got due dates, essays needed, suited teacher recs, $$$ concerns, the whole shebang. My family thinks I'm nuts :)

I'm almost done with the Wells Scholarship app. for IU, and I'm working on the Yale SCEA and Scripps New Generation Scholarship for Nov. 1. I've filled out the name, SSN, classes, APs, SATs, and about half of the essays. I refuse to send in the completed apps, though, because I'll probably change my mind and not apply to some of these schools. I have to update the NROTC application continually (don't apply to the Navy unless you accept that they will be on your back every single day for the rest of your life), and there's a mess because my English teacher didn't receive the Evaluation form.

I like the essays. It's a chance to dwell on me, my favorite subject :)

Wow, I suddenly feel behind. But maybe, just maybe, that is because a) I'm not planning to apply EA anywhere and b) Canadian schools have later deadlines (February-March and even later for some).

I have an appointment with my GC next week to get things rolling on the major scholarships and US applications. I've done a lot of research, and I basically have a plan. I know what each app needs. I have one fantastic rec for the major things (Ivies/scholarships), and am thinking of who else to use for the moment. But seriously, I'm trying not to get consumed by the process, because that will ruin all the fun I'm having right now. So far, senior year has been a blast. I want to keep it that way!

Oh, and one of the clubs I'm the president of doesn't have a teacher sponsor because the previous one went on mat. leave, which means most of my free time at the moment is being consumed by trying to find a teacher who isn't involved in something else!!!!!

i got a load of stuff to do, essays, apps, and SAT again - aiming 2400.
teachers recs and i volunteer every week 8 hrs

im applying to Stanford, UCLA/UCSD/UCB, USC, and Univ. of San Diego.
Just tellin you, the easy stuff is done, but the essays...boy its the essays that are driving me insane.

I'm applying to Princeton ED, and everything else regular: Harvard, JHU, CMU, Univ. MD-college park, UVa, William and Mary, Cornell

I'm signed up for a couple more SAT IIs in October, still gotta write up my essays, but I've already given my recs to the right ppl

my exams finish tomorrow.. so i will be startin on my app this weekend or next week. yay for hols! problem is my A-level finals begin in mid-oct and end in mid-nov, so it means i'll have to start right away on my ED app. SAT IIs in october too. late nov and early december will be really hectic for me, filling out all the rd apps.

i'm lookin forward to a really busy few months ahead of me.... hope it all works out fine!

hmm...I haven't started lol...and I plan on applying EA to all schools I'm applying to

I have the apps...just haven't started on them...gosh I'm such a procrastinator...

i've already given my apps for purdue, ohio univ, and u of dayton for my counselor. I wrote two essays over the summer so i just copy and paste one of those in and im done, right now im waiting for my rec for miami(OH) univ. and i have to write stupid specialized essays for xavier scholarships and national achievement and im done with college crap until i get my admission letters

Wow, you're applying to a lot of OH schools there, haha. Now I don't feel so bad.

I'm applying to American U (I wanna go! I'd do ED if it wasn't so expensive), Bowling Green State, Denison U, Earlham College, Kent State U, Miami U, Ohio U, Ohio Wesleyan U, and U of Dayton. I've got my safeties, matches, and reaches there.

I'm done with all my applications pretty much. I just need to print out info my teachers need for their recommendations (I already found 'em and they've agreed) and write my essays. After that, it's hitting submit, telling my GC where I've applied so they'll send in my transcripts, and voila. Done.

I find doing a little everyday helped a lot...

yea the weird thing is that im not even from OH .. i just moved to Memphis, TN from Indiana so i love the midwest and cant wait to get back

At my school, even if you're applying RD the deadline is November 21st, but she's setting the goal date at november 7th. the only good thing is teachers never take more than a week to do recs, now just to pick two more...

At my school they're like, give us two weeks before your deadline. The problem is, I keep signing up to see my GC, and she never calls on me to go to her office. I've tried storming her office, but she says she'll get to me "later." Funny, last year when I needed help with my schedule she said "Honey, I'm too busy with the senior's applications right now." Now I am a senior and she's too busy with other students? Please! She only deals with junior/seniors m-z! Only one GC does all of freshman/sophmore and he's far better at getting to everyone - heck, I still find myself going to him for help because my own counsler can't seem to make time for me! Ugh!!

Sorry, GC rant there...I'm just getting upset because it's taking them forever to actually get around to mailing in transcripts. My friend actually finished her apps a week before school (Aug. 12th), and her GC (about as ept as mine) just sent them in on Thursday. Bah!!

Yes, my school says 2 weeks before, which is annoying. Because it basically means I need to be finnished with all my applications by mid-october. That gives me like a month. So mega-stress. One of my classmates applied to Purdue five days ago and got accepted today. I kind of wish I was in just somewhere so I wouldn't be so stressed

i have everything done for my EA schools (2) and i've been done with common app stuff since june.

oh and teacher recs are easy, just ask them early and give them your resume. one of my recs is already on file at Caltech.

good luck everyone.

just because i feel vindictive: my school requires us to be done a month in advance! for nov. 1 ED deadlines, they require everything to be in by Sept. 28th. I'm seriously behind.

I've filled in all the easy stuff, but haven't started my essays or requested teacher recs. Does anyone have a good way to approach teachers for recs? Like, what to say and how to say it? Thanks.

requested two recs. Filling in sheet for counselor. Finished one short answer. Revising essay and writing the first short response. I need to be done by at the latest next week.
