Is it worth taking AP exams senior year if MIT doesn't give credit for it? All of the AP exams I was planning on taking this year are not accepted by MIT, so should I pay $328 just to have them on my resume? I have to pay for the exams tomorrow, so I need to figure out what I'm doing tonight.

well if MIT really offers no credit for them, then I don't see the point. It's not really going to be much of a boost to your resume either....I mean you'll be at MIT for the next 4 years, after that who will care what APs you took?

don't take AP exams for their own sake :-P

I was going to take stats, but decided no to when MIT sent me the letter...

My daughter is a freshman at MIT and wished she had taken the calculus AP ... I think that if you get a 5, you can place into a higher level math class. Also, if you get a 5 on the English language or English literature AP, you don't have to take the Freshman Essay Evaluation that they give over the summer, and you place in a higher level humanities class. There might be information about this on the MIT website. Also, sometimes, if you sign up for an AP and don't take it, you can get a refund of your money. (We did, although it came six months later!) Daughter #2 just got admitted, and she is trying to decide what AP exams to take as well.... Hope this helps a little, anyway -- good luck!

Good point. I'd say no.
