I was admitted early (yay) and will definitely be attending MIT in the fall. I've already taken 10 APs, and now in Senior year, am currently taking AP Bio and AP Stats. Is there any reason I should sit for these AP exams, since even if I get a 5 on them, it won't be any advantage at MIT? The only good reason I can think is that I might be a possible State AP Scholar if I take them. Any advice?

Yup - you get no advantage whatsoever for those 2 exams. It’s up to you if you want to fork over $260 to CollegeBoard. :D

At the beginning of the year I intended on taking like 10 AP tests, then I got into MIT and I am only taking BC calc now. The state ap scholar thig probably won’t matter to you much anyway this fall

My S gets no choice in the matter… take the class = take the exam (or else!). I’m not looking at what MIT does with APs, but I thought you would get something for those classes.

“meh”. I took the AP Bio test because I thought it was fun, but I’m also a dork. I wouldn’t take them if I were you, unless your school makes you. They’re pretty expensive.

Thanks everyone. Leaning towards taking the AP stats exam but not bio, though will attempt MIT’s bio exam (even though I heard its super hard to test out of).

If money’s not a big concern, a good reason to take the AP exams is that it is a good way to test your mastery of the subject matter (or, at least, minimum competence.)
