My dad and I were looking over the CSS Profile we sent in in October and found some things that were wrong or unclear. He didn't really help me at the time and I just did the my best filling it out with the information I had.

Did I completely ruin my chances for financial aid or is there some hope left?
I applied EA to a couple of schools.

There is a way to correct it. I think you hand-write in the revisions and mail it to the schools, but you need to confirm that yourself. They will know to disregard the first one. It probably happens often enough that there is no harm done as long as the timing is still OK.

Call the school and ask them how you amend the Profile. You will have to do this anyway once you complete your 2007 taxes. May as well know THEIR process. You can tell them that your estimates need to be corrected. They will tell you what they want you to do.

Yes, call them. My son's ED school said to just wait and amend the profile when 2007 taxes are done and we file the FAFSA. The ED FA "award" will be an estimate only, so they didn't seem too worried about having to change it when the real numbers come in. When you get your estimate, you can then guess whether it will go up or down, depending on exactly what changes you need to make to the Profile.
