So for some of the colleges i am applying to, their application deadline is 1st jan 2018.I sent my act scores on 25th December 2017. Considering it 'll take 2-3 weeks for the scores to reach, do I stand a chance of getting rejected because my scores reach later than my application.Some of the colleges being Cornell , Duke,USC,Georgia tech etx.{URGENT}
I had this same anxiety. What I read is that sometimes colleges will throw out the application entirely if all materials aren’t received by the deadline. Other college may disregard the lateness in the case of an otherwise pristine applicant. Depends really, and I couldn’t find any colleges that specifically stated their policy.
That being said, I also thought I might try and send it through priority to possibly make the deadline but found all my choices can only be sent electronically, which the ACT states is not available for priority shipping because it’s essentially the same quick rate. Thus, your scores may reach the schools in a matter of days and potentially on time after all if sent electronically. TBH, idk and am just repeating what I’ve said to myself to reassure myself. At this point, all you can do is send the reports and hope for the best.
Best Case: sent electronically or through priority, your scores reach the school on time OR your schools disregard the lateness altogether
Worst Case: your entire application is thrown out
You can’t do much about it now. My October ACT scores took 4 business days (W, T, F, M) to be sent and downloaded, and according to a university rep, they only took 3 days to get there.
Contrary to what @kw7998 says, colleges are more lenient with test scores/recs/other stuff that gets sent by others, so it’s ok if those arrive a few days later than the deadline. Make sure your part is in by the deadline, and you’ll be fine.
So as long as I have done my bit , ie sending scores , before the deadline ,1st Jan , It ll be fine ,right ?
