@CanuckIB I applied on the Nov. 1 deadline and haven’t heard back yet, it’s been a week so I hope they send some type of interview invitation soon

@CanuckIB WHOA… Literally minutes after I made the above post I go and check my spam folder (which I NEVER do) and see the SEO interview invitation sitting right there, they sent it exactly ONE DAY after I submitted my app so it’s been in there for a week. I couldn’t believe it, this is the first time Gmail has ever mistaken one of my actual emails for spam. CanuckIB I suggest checking your spam folder ASAP

Edit: & of course as I go to make an appointment there are absolutely NO time slots available. aaaagh, I’m really beating myself over the head for this one :/

Just got the invite to the in person interview! I am interviewing in Atlanta on November 19

Applied before the rd 1 deadline, got a phone interview within a week after, had phone interview yesterday, got in person invite the same day.

@lookingtofuture & @UFKid1021: Congratulations to you both! I have my own phone interview on the 22nd! If you don’t mind me asking, what did the phone interview consist of? Were you asked behavioral questions? Or was it more just getting to know you?

Depends on your division but a mixture of both, it was pretty easy in my case. There’s an old SEO thread around that listed the questions specifically and while a bit dated wasn’t too far off. Do make sure you watch the SEO videos on your division, know what it is, why you want to do it, why SEO, etc.

Who is the email from? Maybe it will help me search my spam?

Also, is there any indication on the online SEO form app? Does it give you an indication of an interview there?

I got the interview , the question were easy.

But I don’t think I will get a second round interview , I felt like I was just going through the motions and I no longer had that great interest in it.

Do anyone has an idea , when rejection letters arrive??

Had my in person yesterday for IBD, think it went pretty well.

Did they tell you when you would be hearing back? Who interviewed you?

Interviewed with the head of IB in NY, did not indicate when I would hear back as I’m a sophomore, just asked when I would have the transcript and rec in.

Got into SEO-U Fall, first semester freshman at Cornell, don’t think it’ much of an accomplishment though lol

Hey @lookingtothefuture, sophomore here as well! If you don’t mind me asking how’d the in person go? What would you say they emphasized the most (behavioral, industry questions, etc.)? I have mine coming up reeeaaal soon

It was pretty split even, maybe a little more behavioral but nothing over the top or out of the ordinary. Know why banking, why SEO, your resume, etc. Probably some mental math (multiplication/division) to test your aptitude, and a case question. Wasn’t asked about valuation methods or anything finance technical though.

@lookingtothefuture: Thanks! A little bit of both is definitely what I’d prefer. If you don’t mind me asking one more question, what exactly would a “case question” be?

I’m assuming it has something to do with the markets?

Hey I see you interviewed for the investment banking position. I have my in-person interview this friday(in two days) for investment banking. Can you tell me what it was like? what kind of questions did they ask? what do i need to know?

Ok. Just know why you want to do investment banking and why you are the perfect candidate. Explain why SEO. Know a little about valuation. Please ask them, when are we hearing back! I have asked all students that interviewed any they don’t know.

Hi everyone,

I applied for AM in the first round and have my in-person interview coming up soon. I know there will be a case question, and I’m just wondering if there’s any tips out there on how to prepare for this. I’m not asking for specific questions for the interview, because that’s simply not fair, but I’m just wondering if anyone had any idea how to prepare specifically for an AM case question. I.e. besides knowing the markets, perhaps specific stocks, pitching a stock, etc. It seems that IB case questions are predictable/self-explanatory, but I have no idea where to even begin in preparing for the AM case question. Thank you!

I opened up my seo application and I got this message. What do you guys think it means, am I waitlisted or are they just saying I will hear back soon? Im kind of confused.

Another kid told me he received a similar letter but that instead of that, it says he will hear in march…

I don’t want to analyze it too much cause ill end up crazy but its like if they didn’t tell us anything. They are reviewing the application and will tell us soon. I don’t know if they just message that to everyone since the semester is over. … we’re gonna have to wait, lets hope its for the best.
