<p>I guess as some type of insight, I am in the same boat as others with the waitlist letter up for the decision. I would say if you have not heard anything by now, it is best to have other plans lined up. I fortunately have some interviews lined up at some boutique banks with a position I am working out with a MM bank I interviewed with a while ago.</p>
<p>Also, with the person I know who got into SEO, the person mentioned that SEO is close to done with looking at applications, with placements starting soon (probably next week) and for the training materials that have to be completed, they have till sometime in April to finish. So, if you think about it, the longer you wait the more difficult it would be to rationalize finding out so late and having a certain window of time to complete your training sessions.</p>
<p>I don’t want to say it say forget about it, but…consider your options. </p>

<p>I made a phone call into SEO phoneline, regarding the status of my application. When I called in to ask about the status of my application I stated my last name and was immediately told that I should “forget about it” and that the scholarship was geared only towards persons of color - African America, Native American, and Latino descent. I understood that these are their target groups, but I don’t think that it was the best way to go about with it, just because I am of Asian decent does not mean that my application and experiences should be looked over. </p>
<p>I was actually encouraged by past interns, asian-american and non-asian-americans, to apply. So I didn’t understand why they went about handling it this way. It was really unprofessional. Sent in an email about this, and was told that it was “interesting”</p>
<p>The term Asian American encompasses many different subgoups. And some subgroups like those of South East Asian descent are an unrepresented minority within a minority (Asian) in America. I would greatly appreciate it when they are in the process of reviewing student applications to take this in mind - the misconception that all Asian Americans fit under one category of the model minority greatly distorts America’s perception on certain minority experiences. And this very much harms many students holding them to a different standard.</p>

<p>I just email SEO today, and i told them I had 2 interviews last week and that i was expecting offers soon. I also told them about one offer that I received and about another interview that I’m going to have next week. I also asked about the status of my application and reiterated that SEO is my first choice. </p>
<p>The Message i got back was vague saying, to keep them posted on any offers and their expirations and to stay tuned to my email and i should receive an status update.</p>
<p>I received the generic response. Out of office.</p>
