***SEPTEMBER 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

@HereToHelpYou I’m just wondering, where did you get those info?

@clichescreenname The ACT website.

@TheIG19 Good question. Since most people are very pressed for time, I’d assume just bubbling it in the answer book is more efficient than risking leaving it all at the end and giving you unneeded stress. Plus, it’s not a huge deal just to bubble it in. Sure, it gets annoying going back in forth, but imo it’s worth it.

As sated above, these changes were announced on the ACT website

If you would like to stay up to date on the changes with the ACT, you can do so here:

http://www.act.org/actnext/

so what are the changes made to the Writing section?

Can anyone help me on my science section? I get 30+ on my other sections, but somehow get like 27 on my science. Does anyone know why? What can I do to help this??

I’m practicing with some of the tests from McGraw-Hill here: http://www.mhpracticeplus.com/tests/ACT2015/ACT.html. Does anyone know how they compare to the actual test? I don’t know if they’re easier or I’m just doing better. Thanks

@viola627 They are considered easier. Don’t bother wasting your time completing these tests. Practice with REAL, released tests and you should note an improvement. Good luck!

Ok everyone, sorry if I’m repetitive with some of my other posts. Nonetheless, is the red ACT prep book considered easier than the official ACT test? I’m just really nervous right now. Any more tips for ACT science?

@clichescreenname Everyone told me ACT red book was easier, while I was scoring a 30/31. I then took the “Preparing for the ACT Test 2015/2016 Guide” which everyone taking the ACT should take, and got a 31, so I would say it is a very accurate representation.

Crap the last post messed up, I meant to say can anyone help me solve #50 in math on the recent ACT released test?

@polarizes You multiple 40x30x20 to find the volume and then .25 is 1/80 of 20 so u multiple 24000 by 1/80 to get 300.

@polarizes Or you can find volume of the displaced water directly. Since you know the water fills the shape of the container, you can multiply 40 cm by 30 cm to calculate the area of the base of the container and of the displaced water. Then, you multiply that base area by the height of the displaced water, which is 0.25 centimeters, and this will give you the volume of the displaced water, which is 300.

could you please explain me this question:

After he died,it was a language I never heard again-that is,until I heard myself struggling with the words
he [would use] so easily all those years ago.

A.NO CHANGE
B.would
C.would of used
D.had used

I said A.But I se no reason not to choose D either.Answer key says it is D.Could you please explain.

I just took the June 2015 ACT and thought it was by far the hardest ACT yet. I got a 31. I realize no one will have any valid answers, but does anyone have any hunches about how the newest one will stack up to that test (the most recent one)?

@CollageWhat What were some aspects of the June ACT that makes it the hardest ACT yet? Like which sections were unusually hard? And for the September ACT, the essay will be different so we’ll be the first to take it…

i thought science was really hard for me on the june test. I never prepared for it so that’s probably why lol

Has anyone taken the “Preparing for the ACT Test 2015-2016 Test”? I just finished taking it and the this test was much harder than the tests from the red ACT book. I just scored a 29 compared to 32-33 on the red ACT book. There’s less than a week left prior to the September ACT and I’m freaking out!!! I thought I was all set because the tests in the red book were semi-easy. But the one I took today says otherwise… sigh

Yeah in my experience, red book tests were much easier. I was scoring 35/36 on red book but a 31 on the real thing.

@Gatortristan What did you end up getting overall.
