September ACT Math Discussion

@cowking15

absvalue (a + bi) = root (a^2 + b^2)

Since there is no “a”, a = 0
Therefore you look at your coefficients of “i”
3i = root (3^2) = 3, the largest possible number available.

you guys are confusing me. was there not a question that dealt with fraction amounts of gallons, and the gallons left over?

@dylan yes that one two kids painting, not the cocoa and water lol

i forgot about what i put on that one i think it was 4 + 1/4

yes, 4 and a quarter, i remember that one very well

oh thanks for clarifying. i put 8 for the cocoa problem then

There was a coco one (ratio) and one regarding paint (subtracting fractions).

The paint one was 6 - 1/2 - 4 and 1/4

what was the answer to the one with the trapezoids?

and was the answer to the area question…12?

Trapezoid 13

what area question.

The trapezoid one was 1/2(base 1 + base 2)

The area one was about the triangle shaped tiling. You found the area of the triangle and determined how many triangle tiles could fit a specified rectangular floor.

that was 4 times the lengh of the triangle right?

1/2 (base 1 plus base 2) has to do with the area of a trapezoid

the question asked was about the length of a segment…was it 13? I hope so, but I was clueless

For the triangle one…

Area of rectangle/area of triangle. You then take that number and divide by 12 (the width of the bored) to find how long it was.

Does anybody remember the exact answer choice for number 60 the cat question???

“if it is NOT a cat, then it is NOT blue”

…I think.

what was the answer to the triangle one? was it 4 times the lengh of one of the sides? or did i not read the question well enough and was it some other answer

and yes shark thats correct

Steelers - i put letter choice E

Was the answer to the floor tiling/triangle one 48?

Yeah shark but was it d or e ???

Definitely E. If not, I will eat my watch.
