hi
I still did not receive my act writing score.(like a lot of people)
The commonapp doesnt allow me to self report my ACT score without entering my writing score.
I am applying early.What should I do?
Do I have the option not to self report any ACT/SAT score in the CommonApp (I thought I can just explain the situation
in the extra information part and write there my ACT score without the writing part) and then when my writing
scores come I can send them officially?
Most colleges are aware of the situation. Consider sending a screen shot of your scores and self report what you can.
I know this is not ideal.
I am encouraging my students to also call the colleges on their list and inform them of the situation.
I hope you get your scores soon!
thanks!
I just want to know this.
Is it acceptable to send Commonapp without any SAT/ACT (self reporting) score what so ever.I mean would it
mean that my application is incomplete even with sending my official ACT score right after?
I am asking because my ACT is 33 (i have taken once) and I also took SAT once just to try (2030)
so I really dont want to send my relatively low SAT score “just to have something” in the commonapp while waiting to get my act writing score to officialy send my ACT score.
Yes, you can send the Common App and leave the ACT section blank (“I don’t have any scores to report.”) In the “Additional Information” section, you can list the scores you already have and tell them you are waiting for the writing. Note the some schools will require an officials score report by November 1st no matter what you do on the application, and others will give you some leeway.
would it make sence to report my September test as a future test so that they will wait for my scores to come?
of course i would still explain the situation in the additional information section.
Also, everyone who took the September ACT must leave the “Combined English/Writing” space blank since that score is no longer provided. I put in my English score for Writing and let the college know once I got my score back that it changed.
Actually @Hermit9, the Common App says to list either your “combined English/Writing” or “Writing” score in that space depending on which ACT you took. @farfarawaykontes - yes, you can list it as a future test, but I’ve heard from some admissions folks that it’s also good to put something in the additional info section.
