Serious illness.. Chance me?

Okay, so I know this isn't your typical "chance me" thread but I was just wondering if having a serious illness as a cause affecting a drop in your grades would increase your chances at a school. At the end of my sophomore year, I had a 3.9 unweighted (my school doesn't weight grades) with the most rigorous possible courseload. Then I got sick with -- get ready for this -- major depression, severe migraines, lupus, swine flu and bronchitis, wound up missing about half of my first semester of junior year and only managed a 2.8 with the most rigorous possible courseload because I missed so much. Talk about horrible luck! It doesn't sound like much -- believe me, I know -- but my principal said it was one of the most "spectacular" things he had ever seen based on the circumstances (recommendation letter from him? I think so :D) I'm still a little sick... better than last semester but I certainly miss more school than your average student, plus there are concepts that are prerequisites from last semester that didn't completely grasp that aren't exactly making my life better... hmph. Plus, a lot of my teachers were extremely unfair about it -- for instance, my physics teacher often made me take tests the day after I got back from being sick even though I wasn't even taught the material, and my French teacher gave me a D in participation because "I wasn't there enough to determine what my participation was" so she "had to give me that grade." Ever heard of the "excused" button, lady? Ugh. This sucks.
Anyway, I got a 32 on the ACT. Cornell is my dream school, but I know it's a reach, so I'm mostly looking at UWMadison ( I'm a legacy!) right now. Northwestern, UCLA, UIllinois, NYU, Duke (also a legacy!), the Michigan one -- I always get them confused, whichever one is in Ann Arbor LOL, and Purdue. I'm looking at Minnesota as well, although it's more of a safety school for me -- and I'm looking at UW Stevens' Point, my major safety school. Any chancing would be appreciated if you have knowledge on any of these schools. Thanks. ^^

Ooh and other stuff...
Uh, I'm white. Female. national honor society, French and Spanish honor society... forensics for fresh and soph year, theater for soph and junior year w/ 2 pretty decent roles, key club soph year, polisci club fresh, soph, jun. year., newspaper freshman year. and i love to write :) i'm working on an autobiography hahaha.

um, like i said, i'm a legacy at:
madison - my mother and stepfather attended
duke - both of my paternal grandparents attended

if you could chance me, that would be awesome. Thanks!

“…but my principal said it was one of the most “spectacular” things he had ever seen based on the circumstances (recommendation letter from him? I think so)”

Just curious: why didn’t this principal intervene with the unreasonable physics and french teachers? It seems like he/she could have at least done that for you.

Its never lupus!!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t aware of what was happening, who would have told him?

Yup, nobody told the principal – I didn’t. I didn’t really want to call attention to myself or cause problems. The physics teacher is still doing this “hey, welcome back, have a test” thing, and I told my mom about it and she actually mentioned it to the principal, and he said he would take care of it and make sure it wouldn’t happen again.

And, yeah, believe it or not… lupus. LOL
