Hello, thanks for coming to this thread. I have a question for you all who've had to take a lot of tests in 1 year. Okay 1st of all, I've worked it out where I could take the SAT I three times if needed without rushing anything. Here's what I devised:

October 8: Take Test
October 24: Get results .... if they are bad:
January 28: Take Test 2
Febuary 13: Get results .... if they are bad:
April 1: Take Test 3
April 17: Get results.
May: AP Tests.

I'll study a lot during June, July, August, and September so hopefully I do okay the 1st time. But if I do horribly bad, I have 2 more times to take it. The 2nd time will give me November, December, and January to study beforehand. If I still do bad, I'll have Febuary & March to study beforehand for the 3rd test.

Now unfortunately no SATs are given during the summer. And I'd like to take 3 SAT IIs, possibly after AP tests. (bio, chem, math 2c) But that means I could only take it in June, and I'd have to wait all summer to take the next re test if I had to, which would be in October! And I need to ED a college application probably by that time. So...should I take the SAT IIs before the June test? Or should I just mail the scores to the college if they are better?

I have to take AP Chem, Biology, and Psychology for sure in May, and maybe Computer Science AB if I learn enough throughout the year. I'm afraid I'll be too busy studying for those APs to study for the SATs that will be given on May 6. So June would be perfect, a month after APs. But then I couldn't take any re-tests till October. And I really don't want to take 6 standardized tests in 1 month (which would be May). And a whole summer is a lot of time; I could easily forget stuff. Any suggestions? This whole dilemma is based on the possibility that I do bad on my SAT IIs in June and I'll have to retake them the fall of my senior year.

Come on guys can anyone answer this so I can get a peace of mind and leave..please. Should I just mail the scores later?? I just realized I should probably take the ACT at least twice too. Damn. This is absolutely gonna be the worst year of my life. Anyone...I know some of you all have been in this situation. please answer? I need to go really soon. Do you all just mail your scores? does anyone even care about what they do? am i the only one that plans this stuff out in advance?

Are you sophomore or a junior?

take your SAT2s in may then you won't have to worry about studying for them since AP studying is studying for them. YOur SAT schedule looks fine.

If you take the SAT I don't know why you'd take the ACT personally. and yea, take the SAT 2s w/ the APs, so you can double study. Just take them in the subjects you're taking the AP for. Then you could retake them in June. BTW, you're a sophomore. Stop flipping out. At least you're not in the shoes of every junior here, who could only take the SATs in march, may or june if we want to apply early, in addition to the fact that nobody had seen this specific format before. That leaves one SAT, one SAT 2 session and one retake at the most. Go cry.

just finished soph year, this is why I'm in a dilemma cuz all those applications are gonna be due like by the end of 1st half of senior year.
Okay, if I take the SAT IIs on May 6..and I get the results May 22, there is no way I could register for the June test anyway. I guess the only thing I can do is take them in June since the only other test date before that allows me to reschedule before the summer is January 28 and that is too early. If I can't retake in June, there's no need to cram 6 tests in May.

I need to give the ACT a shot too, who knows, I might do better on that. And I'm sorry NJPitcher, I really am. People said before the new SAT came out to study the blue book, and they're still saying that so I'm supposing they were similar. And the new SAT book came out back in October and all of the other SAT books that I'm using all came out before the new sat did. So the juniors still had some shot to do well.
But the new juniors still do have an advantage I'll admit that.
Anyway thank you all for the time

I also think you should go ahead and take SAT IIs in May. If you're already taking AP Chem and Biology, you should take the SAT IIs around the same time while all the material is still fresh. Last May I took the SAT II US History the day after AP US History and got a 790, with no additional studying geared toward the SAT. Yeah, it seems like a bummer taking all those tests in one month, but you will really save yourself a lot of trouble and extrra studying by getting them out of the way.

Register may and june, and cancel june if u do well in may. Worst case, you lose 20 dollars.

you mean best case scenario you lose $20

Depends on whether you value money or good SAT score more.

$20 is a drop in the bucket

Wow I didn't realize we could register for both of the dates at the same time!
Well has anyone taken SAT IIs before the AP exam? If I take them in May, it will be the saturday before the week of biology & chemistry. But that shouldn't be a problem cuz I should be studying for AP by that day anyway.
So it would be:

Saturday, May 6: 3 sat IIs
May 8: AP Biology
May 10: AP Chemistry, AP Psychology
June 3: Re take SAT IIs if needed

If I do that, then I'll be studying all May for the SAT IIs anyway because I won't know how I did until like May 22. And if I did good, I might waste:
SAT Subject Tests
Basic registration fee $17.00
Language Tests with Listening add $18.00
All other Subject Tests add $8.00
17 + 8 + 8 (+8?) dollars.

Okay I think I agree with you all to take them in May. Even though I'll be studying for 16 days after I take the test without any knowledge of how I did, at least I'll be prepared and know exactly what I'm facing and maybe I can just study what I felt I did the worst on. I'll just waste 33 (or 41?) dollars, it doesn't really matter..a good score is more important than the money anyway. Thanks for the help, now I just hope I don't go nuts studying for all of these tests in 1 month.
