Serious talk about my chances

Hey guys am going to start off sophomore year at highschool this years and am realy taking allot of honors and AP classes, the thing is freshman uyear i realy wasnt focused. During freshman year i dont know what happened for some reason i just palyed around and i never did my homework and delayed everything, so i ended getting an F and a couple of D's on the first trimester. with my parents mad at me i start the second tri with all A's and then i start not paying attention, so for my second tri i end having my lowest grade a C. my Gpa jumped from 1.5 form my first tri to 2.03 in, so the third tri last tri am on top of all my classes am about to close this tri with 3 A's and 2 B's an all of sudden, its almost summer and i get excited and blow things off. But now its different i realy want to reinvent my self academically, i am not stupid infact i was one of the top kids in math beofre freshman year. so i finished of freshman year with a 2.3, and am planning to get stragiht A's throguht sophmore year through senior i know its hard but am capable. by end of junior year am planning on having a 3.96 gpa on a 4.0 scale. so with this in mind if i get 2100 sat and 33-36 act what are my choices.

Ok so you’re trying to plan out something that really does happen by chance. You don’t just choose to have a certain SAT score. If one could just pick what SAT, ACT, AP, etc scores he/she would have, then the world would be a different place. Be prepared for surprises. Just try to do your best and you’ll be fine.

How are you going to end up with a 3.96 after a year with failing grades?

^ OP, I would like to know the same, in order to assist you.

Each trimester we have at my school you have 5 classes al lcarry the same credit hours, so intern if you have 3.2 on your first trimester and then on the seocond trimester you earn a 4.0 your new gpa will be a 3.6. as of right now i have a 2.3 so i manage a 3.8 or above during my first tr in sophomore year i will end up with a gpa of 3.0. so its basically (2.3+3.8)/2=3.01 you keep doing this for every new tri. and to moose97 i know i cant choose but what if i really got close a 1990-2100 sat and 30ish act what are my options. I have cousin who graduated with a 3.9 and 2100 sat and he got into Stanford(he applied to Harvard but failed) and plus he never took the ACT. But the difference with him and me is that he didnt have ****ty grades factored in into that 3.9

Just try ur best!!!

You didn’t actually state any schools you are looking at. Realistically even if (and that is a lot of ifs) you do everything you plan to do ivies/top tier schools are not going to happen. Not to be rude, but why would they accept you (a person who blew off an entire year of high school) when there are plenty of 4.0/2400 applicants who took all four years seriously. Also it is impossible to get your GPA to a 3.9 with your freshman grades, your GPA would not go up that much in one semester (each semester is weighted equally) so it would be 3.1 after the end of your sophomore year, not leaving you enough time to get a 3.9.

Try hard next year and focus on enjoying high school!
