As a young adult and an Air Force Academy hopeful, I am disappointed to see the amount of rude and petty arguments which are spread throughout the Parents' Forum. Everyone here, whether they are currently at a service academy, a military member or military parent, is entitled to their opinion. However, you shouldnt reach the point of nit picking each others' posts and insulting each other. I think its extremely important to understand that most people here are just trying to do what they think is best for their child as they make some of the most important decisions of their life.

Bottom line is: Opinions can and will differ, but they are all valid.

It's usually a good idea to ignore bad behavior and focus on the positive. You are gaining valuable knowledge from most of the people that post here.

One thing to remember everyone's situation is different, and there will be a lot of varying experience. What may be applicable for USNA is not for AFA or USMA.

Ignore the in-fighting and read between the lines of the post, because the info may pertain to your situation.

You are very mature for a young age and I wish you the best

I agree, in part. One of the reasons the Administrators were asked to set up a specific location for Parents, was to remove some of the discussions from the more specific areas. So, when you read posts in here, remember, parents don't always talk the same when their kids are in the room.

Plus, if you don't like a post you can always ignore it and as bullet and or pima says, read between the lines.

I would like to see this area move back towards what it was originally: A place for parents to ask questions of other parents and support each other.

Having said all that, hope you get what you want out of this site, kbd12

I prefer "blunt" or "direct" rather than the "petty and rude" that does occasionally occur here. People will be people, and opinions often differ...strongly.

You're so right AND wise. But don't let it drive you away. There is still much valuable information to be had here. Some people tend to get carried away by their passions. Ignore the rude posters and find the value you need.

Welcome to the adult world, . . . unfortunately as it exists today.

The reality is this thread is populated w/ has-beens, wanna-bes, coulda-beens, shoulda-beens, and other miscellaneous misanthropes, misogynists, and man-haters who have nothing better to do than spend their time in front of a glowing computer screen, posting meaningless messages to an audience who they think cares one iota about what they have written, instead of doing their jobs, tending to their kids, talking to their wives, or, otherwise living a life.

Wow, I have always had difficulty describing myself, now I know how!! I am one of those...

All this time I thought I was a mom and business woman that found a place to get some valuable information to help my dd succeed in an area that I knew very little about.

Learn something new everyday!

kdb12, most of us are very civil and play well with others.
