Several Questions about Georgetown Admittance

Hi all

I am currently a junior looking at options for college. Now Georgetown University is literally my top choice. If I could get in, I would be the happiest person in the world. So, I would appreciate if you all could give some insight on my chances of getting into the school and whether I am on the right track for possible admittance.

So here's my "resume" so to speak. How do I look?

Honestly, I cannot express how much I want to go to Georgetown. As I said above, I actually stayed at Georgetown and lived on campus. I know what it's like to live there and I loved it. I want to study government and international relations. Being in Washington DC (our nation's capital) is probably the best thing for that area of study. I know that Georgetown has a brilliant department in government and political studies. As a Catholic, I want to continue to attend a Catholic institution (though I am keeping my options open). Furthermore, from research that I have done and word from current students that I have spoken to, Georgetown appears to not be based on a crazy party scene. That's the kind of place I'm looking for. I want to have fun in college, but I do not want to be drunk off my feet 24/7. If anything, Georgetown appears to be the place for me.

Oh one last thing: Should I consider Early Action?

Based purely on your stats, Georgetown is probably out of reach with SATs in the sub-600 range. They will be an almost insurmountable liability if you are not able to improve them.

your EC’s and GPA are georgetown material, but your SAT’s are the only thing stopping you.
the fact that you are latino helps A LOT.
If you can get a 1900 total SAT1, with 3 decent SAT2, you are in.
study hard bro youl’l make it!

Seeing as Georgetown doesn’t take the writing portion of the SAT, I would shoot for at least a 1400/1600 to be absolutely certain.

I was admitted to SFS back in April, and am so excited to be going there this fall! Around this time this year, I fell in love with Georgetown too and knew it was where I wanted to be. You obviously sound like you want this too, so…go for it!

Hope to see you there in a year!

you can apply early, but know getting into Georgetown early action is NOT easier than getting in regular. it’s harder. they cap the number of students they take so the acceptance rate is about the same in both pools, but the early action pool is stronger because the admissions committee feels the accepted EA students have strong enough records that they will not need to look at senior grades or test scores to make their decisions. that being said, applying early shows a love for the school and just gets one more application out of the way. but it does not help your chance of getting in.
