blu- you'd probably have to donate a lot to get invited. I'm only going because I'm friends with the girl whose mom organized the party and fundriaser.

and thanks, kb. I gotta show some love for Dartmouth! :p

oh, it's one of those buy-ins. GAY. but of course it increases my Green Day love. Green Day is incredible!

60 second rule suuucks

That reminds, me; we've totally strayed off topic. That's okay though. You find me one Dartmouth CC thread that stays on topic, and I'll show you a Havard thread that doesn't suck.

LMAO ahahahahahahhaahahha kb, you are so awesome.

i only just remembered that this thread was about sexual attitudes at Dartmouth.

SO. Sex. Dartmouth. Hopefully both are in my future, HA!

Amen to that my brotha

Haha, skyandsea, I go to a school that has the same first and last name as yours, minus the "Exeter." Plus, we're blue.

Blur,

I also live in North Jersey...the House that they film the "Sopranos" in (Tony's house) is just up the street from ours. There are "Soprano" sightings in our little town all the time. Although there are a few detours, if you follow the opening sequence Tony drives from NYC straight to our house.

that is so awesome! which county are you in?

Sexeter, huh?

I heard you can just go into girls dorms whenever. Is that true?

I wouldn't give a damn about a gay roomate. But then again, I'm heavily involved in gay rights stuff, so I guess I'm not a good person to ask.

My girlfriend is black (and I'm white). I'm kind of surprised that interracial dating gets anyone riled up anymore.

haha sexeter was a term coined by a magazine i work for. i'm a girl, so i can go into girls dorms whenever i want...

but no, we actually have one of the more restrictive visitations policies. guys can only be in girls dorm rooms from 7-8 on nights before classes and 8-10:30 on saturday nights, and you have to check in with a faculty member, door open, lights on..

college will be a nice change from that.

I weep with envy.

I go to a boarding school in Illinois...we're NEVER allowed in the other sex's dorms.

whoa. NEVER???
i was pretty sure ours was one of the stricter policies, esp in new england...
rasberry smoothie, yours is more lenient, right?

anyway, college is going to be quite an adjustment.. i wonder if freshmen have a higher number of random hookups the first couple weeks just because of the increase in freedom?

(see, i'm bringing the topic back to the original.)

calidan-- about the Oscars-- um, yeah! I was intensely bored. It was so predictable. I threw popcorn when Jamie Foxx won over my dear, dear Don Cheadle. :( I totally agree that Hotel Rwanda should have been nominated AND won Best Picture, for like, the next ten years. hee. I was so bitter that night.

skyandsea-- remembering from my first and only year at Stuyvesant...in NYC, people apply for high school like college, so we were all new the first day, pretty much. So yeah, there was a big scramble for friends and hookups those first couple of months. People calmed down, though. :)

i love Don Cheadle! he was so great in Ocean's 11 and 12

Nothing wrong with gay roomates... nothing wrong with interracial dating... I am white and my girlfriend is Asian. The way I see it, as long as both people are ok with what they are doing, why stop them?

heh, blu-- Hotel Rwanda was a wee bit different than Ocean's 11 and 12

I know a guy from Dartmouth who is gay, and he said that most are accepting. He also warned me that guys dance with other guys (this isn't very common in my part of california), much like girls dance with other girls (which is very normal here).

I probably wouln't have a problem with a roommate who was gay. I mean, I play water polo, and most of us guys joke around like that all the time. I'd have a problem with him if he did some things, but I'd get mad at a straight or bi roomate for doing the same things.

And as for the Oscars, I was angry that Maria Full of Grace and Motorcycle Diaries barely got anything. They both could have won best foreign film if they could have been entered in that category. I mean, you know what i mean.

Parietal rules:

9th: Doors fully open (only winter and spring term)
10th: Doors halfway open (only winter and spring term)
11th: One shoe in the door
12th: Doors open or shut

I'm curious about the dating situation at Dartmouth. Do students who are white date students who are asian, black, or hispanic - or is this not so common?
