how freaky would that be

"my personal opinion is that it's not america that needs to do the changing, it's the rest of the world. america has done nothing wrong, it has just been unbelievably successfull. the issue has become, however, in my opinion, that the u.s. is now simply too powerful."

I agree that the U.S. is too powerful, to a certain extent, however I disagree with your statement about having the rest of the world change. Although the world should change in certain ways for its own benefit, America should not be the one watching this and acting like a supervisor. America needs to change just as much as the rest of the world does, especially in terms of diplomacy and international relations. Of course, this is a problem that has been going on for a very long time.

On the SFS essay topic, I have to say I made mine quite personal. I read that no matter what you write for colleges, the writing should be personal and relate directly to you so I did that as best as I could.

Good luck to y'all!

hopefully the fact that i'm angloamerican is enough of a tie back to me personally. and in asnwer to your comment, i also don't think the u.s. should have to act as supervisor, but that has become its place in the world. the problem now is that it's the only one, with not only nobody else to share the burden but nobody to make sure america doesn't go astray. about the u.s. needing to change, my essay was written assuming that isn't possible. i have trouble foreseeing a time when neoconservatives care about common world opinion...

hey, TimR...i'm also a UK/US dual citizen. Where were you born?

London. I moved to L.A. when I was twelve.

London as well, i moved to NY at age three. cool!

Yeah, fellow Europeans! French citizen here, moved here in 1998 (World Cup year, baby!)

Tim, listen: Not only is the essay poorly written, it is so common. Wow, another kid who opposes the war in Iraq. How many of those essays do you think they will read? I am almost certain that this will hurt you, if not for the content then certainly for the presentation. Too long, boring, poorly written, politically slanted, leads to no insight into YOU... The list goes on. Anyway, I will have my vengeance on April 1st when you get your rejection.

whoa....don't you think you're being a wee bit harsh?

brenner. my essay wasn't about the war in iraq. read it again.

wow brenner you are certainly getting really into this considering his essay has no effect on ur application (i dont kno if u were EA or RD, but either way). He's already submitted it and you have no control over whether or not he gets in. i mean i know his opinions on the present administration's actions differ greatly from yours, but at this point is it really necessary to get so worked up over such a minor, insignificant thing as someone else's already-submitted essay? I mean constructive criticism is always nice, but unnecessarily rabid disparagement makes you sound like an arrogant ass.

Right now I happen to find you "amusingly arrogant."
