SFSU Spring 2017 Denial Email?

I just received this email:

“After careful review of the self-reported application information provided, we are not able to grant you admission for the Spring 2017 term. Although this is not an official denial notice, no further action will be taken on your application for this term.”

They then go on to say

“If all requirements will be met by the end of this current Fall 2016 term and you would like a full evaluation of your transcripts in order to validate eligibility and admission, please submit your official transcripts.”

Why are they saying I can submit transcripts if I’ve been denied?

I recommend calling them and asking to explain. It appears this is neither an accept nor a denial, and it almost sounds like the problem is that they cannot confirm eligibility at this point. That is why they say if you become eligible after this term, they will still look at your transcript. In other words, you may not be meeting a requirement but they think perhaps you may after Fall 2016 grades – but I think this one is worth a call to the admissions office.

thank you for your reply! I received a response to my question from admissions:

"I encourage you to review the information provided to us in your application (CSU Mentor) and the admission requirements http://www.sfsu.edu/future/apply/transfereligibility2017.pdf

If you believe a mistake was made please provide your official transcripts from your transfer institutions and request re-evaluation."

I’m confused by this vague “check the requirements” which seems like a hint that I haven’t met them, but I have met them. So I’ve submitted my transcripts and will see what happens

call and ask what their specific concern is. You may be able to resolve this today.
