Shadow Days?

Does anyone know of any other programs that offer shadow days besides Shenandoah?

I’d suspect that many programs do, they’re just not advertised as such. Many schools that will let you schedule a visit as an accepted student will let you sit in on almost a full day’s worth of classes. I know that my school, Viterbo, tries to let you visit as many classes as possible, will have you eat a meal with the department in our dining hall, and will set you up with a voice lesson with our head of musical theatre voice.

Nebraska Wesleyan put together a great day for my D - sat in all the MT classes, met with profs, attended a rehearsal for one of their shows - even an overnight in the dorms with MT girls.

Most schools I have talked to and looked at do offer some form of shadow days, some with overnights which is great.

Hartt does a shadow day for accepted students, but not sure that is available just to applicants because of the disruption to regular classes. It gave my D a really good sense of the program as well as the general “vibe” of the school.

My D went to one at Kent State a couple years ago. I assume they still hold these. But agree with earlier comment that they aren’t always well advertised.

We scheduled a shadow day at IU with no problem. The only difficulty was that it was so late in the year, finding a “typical” day was a little tricky.

@Abbaroo98 - are you asking about shadowing before of after you are accepted? Many schools have totally different policies on those two…

@toowonderful before I am accepted

Thanks for the clarification- that changes things. I would say shadow days depend on the school, and the number that might be applying/auditioning. Do you have a list of schools?

Not sure about shadow days before accepted but you can sit in on classes at most, just call and ask.
