"Shady" ACT scores

Hey guys, I’m a senior getting ready to apply to OSU this year.
My stats are the following
ACT: 27
Class Rank: 2/98
GPA: 4.3
Main Extracurricular Activities: Student Council President; 3 Varsity Letters; Winner of multiple business plan competitions; HOBY Leadership Scholar; National Honor Society.

I’m retaking the ACT this Saturday, but I’m still concerned. OSU is the closest thing to the perfect school for me. Anyone have any insight if I should worry less? I have little to no time to study for the ACT which really, really, really sucks. My math and science sections are what have killed me.

Thanks!

Honestly, the 27 is going to hurt you, as it’s the 25%ile for accepted students. I would consider taking the test in October and actually studying for it.

My daughter is a freshman at OSU now. Her stats were very similar to yours. She had a 27 ACT and was accepted in the first wave of releases last year. My advice is to get your material in as early as you can. Good luck!

I think it depends. My friend’s daughter was accepted with a 25 ACT and a 3.6 GPA, while kids in other schools who had a 4.3 with a 32 were rejected.

My daughter is also a freshman at OSU now. She had a 27 ACT with similar stats to yours (4.1 weighted GPA, 5/149 class rank). She was also accepted in the first wave as well as accepted into Honors. I agree to get your information in as soon as you can. Best of luck to you!

And to add one more thing. My oldest daughter is a senior now at OSU. When she was accepted, she also had an ACT score of 27. 4.05 weighted GPA, 3/150 class rank. I don’t think a 27 ACT score is bad, since my girls were accepted with that score, as long as you are strong in other areas.
