The three months evaporated in thin air; it was so much fun to have DD back home for the summer. We were able to do lots of activity; caught movies together; went to multiple places.

Academically; DD paid internship took a lot of her time; today was her last day and she was unable to finish her paper, so she might have to spend some time after going back to finish it.

All in all it was productive and lots of fun. I'm already missing her even though she hasn't gone back. I'm going to book her flights for thanksgiving.

Girls both worked a lot.
Younger D graduated hs and turned 18 so I threw lots of parties.
We went to Mexico in June.
Seems like August has been all about getting them ready to go back again.

S1 worked for a large company doing work he loves and making great $$. Will be there til mid-September. He has done some traveling on weekends to see friends in Boston. His boss was quite pleased with his work and invited him to return next summer, and to apply when he graduates. We even got to see him a couple of times, though not nearly often enough. That’s the drawback of great jobs in other cities (though S would argue to the contrary!).

After a rough spring, it was just what the doctor ordered!

Youngest spent the summer doing two and three a day workouts as she transitions from her H.S. athletic regimen to college level. I can’t stop staring at how much her physical appearance has changed since spring - looks absolutely incredible.

Middle one spent her second summer interning at a large company in another city that also put her through a short stint in a program on Wall Street and the Federal Reserve.

The oldest is a working professional now, but the highlight of her summer will come soon as she will be receiving an unexpected marriage proposal. Yes, he respectfully asked for FLVADAD’s permission first which was happily granted - first class future SIL through and through. I have all girls, but If I did have a son, I’d hope for him to be just like this guy.

I couldn’t be happier for all of them. Thus, couldn’t be happier for myself as well. Please, somebody pinch me. Umm… on second thought don’t. I don’t want to wake up from this.

S1 spent the summer at an internship in Silicon Valley. He had about a week with us before he left, but unfortunately was looking at the wrong calendar for the return trip. He flies in tonight and has to leave early for Carnegie Mellon tomorrow because classes start Monday. (He’s got to meet up with a landlord tomorrow night - hopefully there will be no hitches in that process.) This is his second summer out in CA, but last summer he shared an apt. This time he was responsible for renting furniture, getting cable etc. We went out this summer to see him (and brother in law as well) which was fun.

Our S1 was also in San Francisco for the summer – more of a job than an internship, since he found the position himself (through stumbleupon!). He was working as a developer for a start-up, right in the financial district and had a blast. He also had a great experience moving cross-country, finding a sublet, negotiating public transportation, etc. etc. Last week the company offered him a full-time job at a great salary and threw in 1% of the company as a bonus. He had quite the struggle turning it down and returning for his senior year of college. Thank goodness, he did.

He was home for six days during which he turned 21! Unfortunately DH and I spent two days of that time out-of-state moving in S2 to his freshman year. S1 got on a plane Friday morning to return to AZ (at least we think he’s there and not in San Fran ;)). Fastest summer on record!

Wow, some amazing stuff here! My D stayed in the city where she attends school, worked 2 part time jobs to cover her expenses, hung out with her nearby boyfriend, and played ultimate frisbee. She did go on vacation with us, and is now in Europe for her study abroad.

A marriage proposal from a dad approved guy? Wonderful flvadad!

Job market sucks this summer for local kids, so D2 got home late from college and will be going back to school early–no job to hurry home for and delay your departure to school for.

All told, she will have spent 9 weeks at home…during which she started watching LOST from Season 1, spend a lot of time with friends, went shopping with Mom, went to lunch often with Mom, went with Mom to visit Uncle, went with Mom to the theater, etc.

I’m having a great summer!! She is probably more than ready to go back to school. LOL…

Big item that was on her must-do list for this summer–get her driver’s license!
